Bruised chin

Last night was pretty exciting for me. B showed me a way to to get up to the storage area that is right under the ceiling.  It’s about 10 feet above ground and there are about 4 feet of free space up to the ceiling.  B and Kip store a bunch of stuff up there and thus, the place is packed with boxes.  Yes, a kitten’s paradise.  Plus, there are two separate areas, but more about those later.

I know B intended to just have me have a look, but anyone who knows my curious nature knows that just a look is not my style.  So, as soon as I was up there I sniffed out  all the boxes and squeezed myself into every corner.  B got worried that I got stuck and scooped me up and brought me back down via a ladder that her and Kip use to get up there.

She must have thought that I would not remember how to get up there, but within the next hour I was not only up there again, but made the jump to the 2nd storage area.  Between the two areas is about a 3 foot gap that I jumped over.  I felt a bit like super kitten when I did it because it is pretty high up and there are also the AC ducts that are kinda in the way.  But I made it.

Kip did not at first believe that I made it up there.  I heard B say loudly my name and pointing up, but he initially dismissed it.  Only when B insisted that I was up there, did he take a look.  He was pretty astonished and I was pretty proud of myself.

Of course, they are both now worried that I get stuck up there.  And, initially I did hurt myself jumping down.  (I am now sporting a bruised chin.)  But, I showed B this morning that I am smart and that I first jump from the storage area onto the top of the kitchen shelves and from there on top of the counter and then all the way down to the floor.  B is still a little unsure about all of this, but Kip told her that I won’t loose my appetite for going up there and for that he is totally right.

Thanks to my friend Bijoyini who sent me this interesting article. Oscar may have a sad occupation, but I think the value that he brings to humans is tremendous.  It also shows that we cats can add much value to human society and are not just pets.

Watch out for labs!

B is in Germany for business and since I cannot be there, I read European magazines and try to keep up with the things that are going on there.  Le Tour (you did not think I can speak and write French?) are the biggest news right now.  German bikers are not doing so well, but they offer some excitement for the audience.  Like this accident with a stray Labrador lady.  Apparently, she is pregnant and was trying to cross the street when this guy Burkhardt ran into her.  Good thing she showed some resistance and got up right away.  Her puppies are also ok.  SIGH!

The gentle giant

Samson looks like he could be a good buddy to have, but just the fact that he takes up a whole three seater couch, makes me talk B and Kip out of ever getting a dog.  We have a four seater, but that is reserved - 1 seat for B, 1 seat for Kip and 2 seats for me.  I can be one long baloney.

He is back

… and he is bigger than ever.  (I still love him, though.)

I found my spot

Img00114The move was tough - to say the least.  After days of packing, B and Kip took off last Friday to close on our new place.  Because it would have been too much for me emotionally and physically, I stayed behind for another night.  I was a bit frightened alone and since there was no furniture left in our old place I feared at times that both had abandoned me for a new kitten.  But B returned on Saturday afternoon and swiftly packed me up into my kitten carrier.  The ride was utterly awful. The car moved so much and I was constantly loosing my balance.  I cried and cried, but B would not stop…

Once we got to Pawtown, I was let out of my carrier and quickly discovered that the new  place is much bigger.  I recognized some of our old furniture and happily discovered the human smell of Kip and B.  I got to sniff around all afternoon, allowed my Boda Dome to be placed in a special spot and requested fresh food and water right under the kitchen counter.

Then I discovered a fun new place to hang out.  I attached a picture above.  The new lounge chair is right below the big windows we have and the sun shines through it right onto the couch all afternoon.  It is so warm and cuddly in this spot that I immediately claimed it.

Overall, I am pretty happy with the new place.  I can see out the windows right into the top of all the trees and there are many birdies to listen to.  Also, the big river below our building has ducks and I like watching them as well.  Of course, there are also a bunch of new hiding places for me to sniff out - the big closet, the shoe cabinets, the kitchen drawers and counters and the new bathroom.  One problem, though, is the fact that I cannot push the bathroom door open anymore.  Thus, I am requesting that the door be open during morning showers.  I need to have some access and since I moved down here for my humans, they will need to accommodate me.
