Decision time

Monday, March 26th, 2007

We are moving to Providence, RI.  YEAHHHH!!!

Yes, Kip finally made a decision.  It was a tough decision, but he was good about waging his options and talking things out with me.  I pushed for Santa Barbara, but in the end he convinced me that monkey research outweighs nice weather.  Plus, he argued that I will not like surfing anyway.  I am sorta relieved, because now I don’t need to take pills to fly all the way cross country.  I just need to suffer for an hour driving to Providence.  B is also excited, because she can stay in her current job.  It will be a long commute for her, but I will make her some nice CDs for the road.

The date for the move has not been finalized yet, but I think it will be at the end of June.  Providence and the entire state of Rhode Island should be so happy to have a fantastic German and a super-smart kitten become residents.  It will certainly make that state more famous.

Knut

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

The latest German cuteness (sorry B it is not you) comes to us here in America courtesy of the Berlin Zoo.

This is Herr Knut.  He was abandoned by his mother and there has been much controversy about him living with a human.  Apparently, an animal advocate said that Knut would better off dead than being raised by a human.

Now, I find such comments preposterous. Having been abandoned by my mama, I have had the best upbringing by my human.  Ok, so she does not have fur and she cannot use her fingers as claws, but we work around such minor differences in anatomy.

The most important thing is that Knut is happy and he sure does look like he is.  He has become a German media star and apparently, all the kids in Germany know his name.  Now, I still have a hard time pronouncing it, but B has been teaching me and Kip.  I am going to get it all down.  In the meantime, I am glad that no one listened to that animal rights activist.

If you want to see more pics of Knut, there are a tone on the internet and I betcha that youtube.com has some videos too.

As mentioned previously, B and I will be moving this summer.  We sorta know already, but we are still waiting for the man to make his final decision.  So, stay tuned!  An announcement should come sometime this weekend.

Things that happen when you get old

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

The B is sick and she is a pain in the kitten tush when she is sick.  Her nose is running and her ears are clogged up.  Which, by the way, works out well for me, because I can meow and talk as much as I want - she cannot hear.  B has not been sick all winter and she had been proudly emphasizing this fact for a while.  Now that she is under the weather, I’d like to think it is because:

1. She was strutting her health too much.
2. She is just plain old

Yes, B had her 34th (that is 30 +4) birthday last weekend.  Obviously, this age is taken its toll on her.  Sorta funny.  I turned 3 last week and I am still jumping up and down the radiator.  No sickness here!  B denies her age as the cause, but I am quite convinced that anyone over 34 goes through having the flu once a year.  I got a long way to go.

Another INS update

Friday, March 16th, 2007

If you remember, I told you last month that B was all bummed out because the INS did not move processing dates for Green Cards forward, rather they moved the dates back.  B was upset about the inefficiency about the INS and wondered how processing times could move backwards.  (Quote B:  "What are they doing?  Did they find some old applications under their desks that they forgot to process?")

Well, the good news is that the processing site was updated yesterday and the new processing date moved back to where it should be - August 2006.  B filed in October, which means, if all goes well, she should have a decision (hopefully an approval) by early May).  Keep your fingers crossed!  The US and all its citizen really won’t want to deal with this German if things do not go as stated and if there is another delay.

New species

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Now that I am 3, you would think that I am allowed to be interested in male kittens, but B is a total Nazi about the dating topic.  She said that I am still too small and that I should think more about achieving things rather than waste my time thinking about the opposite sex.  Thus, I don’t think she would appreciate if I told her how enamored I am with this one.  You have to check out the video and see those fangs.  What a beautiful cat, what fur and what eyes.  Oh, it really makes my little kitten heart flutter when I saw the pic and read the article.  This cat may be a new species, but I would not mind doing more research on him.

The big day is here.  I am 3.  3. 3. 3.  Can you tell I am excited?  And just to show how mature and grown I am, I am going to list birthday wishes in various languages.  What a smart kitten am I…

As much as I like to admit it, there are bad elements in the feline community giving us loving, cuddly, sweet and caring felines a bad name.

Lack of artificial limp stands in the way of making panda love

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Kip left for a warmer part of the country - Santa Barbara.  He already got it, but wants to make sure he likes it out there.  If he accepts their offer, he will be involved in research to improve artificial limps by connecting them directly to the brain.  Or something like that.  My little kitten brain is certainly too small to remember all those scientific words he likes to throw around.  He could, however, start helping this panda out.

Impress

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

I usually don’t care much how the B brings home the bacon, but lately she has been insisting that I understand more closely how I get feed everyday.  So, to honor her hard work, to appreciate her getting up early, to understand her worrying about the product and the customers, to listen to her bitchin’, I am posting the latest press release of the product she manages for everyone to read.  I hope that will buy me more greenies.
