Dier-en-Mens

We got Kip, but I thought this was really cute.

And did you know that B only got me because of Kip?  I mean, praise to that Man-GOD, I only came into existence because of him.  Well, not literally, but visibly into B’s existence.  Hallelulalalalalala…

Immigration update

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

B is still waiting to hear about the approval of her I-485.  This is the last step for her permanent residency and once she is approved she will receive her Green Card.  The INS posts updates regarding the processing times on their website and B religiously checks it.  (She is quite obsessed with it.)  Last month, the processing date was set to July 12th, 2006.  So, B assumed that this month, it will move one month forward to August 2006.  When the update was posted earlier this morning, she became truly upset, calling me to complain about the inefficiencies of the system.  Apparently, instead of having the date move forward, the website now lists a date of June 26th, 2006.  This means that the agency moved backwards in their application processing time.  I am not sure how that can happen and I am thinking that maybe they found a large box of unprocessed applications under a table, but it is truly odd.  B hoped so much that she would get the approval notice around her B-day, which is next month.  It looks, though, it will now be May 2007 until we can expect to hear from the INS.  Big kitten sigh!!!

3 out of 4

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

Kip got into Pittsburgh.  This makes his record 3 to 4, meaning 4 applications went out and three acceptance letters have been received so far.  Brown is the only one that is still missing.  But he is going for interviews to Providence, RI next week and thus, there is a goos chance that he will be 4 for 4 by the end of March.

Then, him and I will put our heads together and decide where we should go.  My criteria is easy.  I go wherever there is a Petco closest to the school.  I would not want to be without the Greenies.

Please adopt

Friday, February 16th, 2007

I read this very sad article this morning.  Most shelters actually put animals down if they cannot be adopted in a specific time frame.  Having been in that situation, I cannot express enough how scary of a place it is to be in.  Every morning you wake up and you think that if no one comes today, you are one day closer to having to die.  I have found my special human and you can also find your special feline.  We are gorgeous, sweet, curious, loving, easy to take care of and we will love you forever if you adopt us.  Free cookies from me if you adopt a pet this year.  (Kitten promise!!!!)

Santa Barbara

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

My favorite male human got accepted into US Santa Barbara yesterday.  While I would not be excited for a probably very long move out there, I would be excited about the 68 F that Santa Barbara had yesterday.  (Says she who lays on the heater while watching the snow come down today.)

Huge feline congrats to KIP!

Westminster Kennel Show

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

I live with a human that is obsessed with dogs and dog shows.  She is actually one of those rare weird people that gets a kick out of sitting on the couch and seeing dogs strut their stuff in an arena.  I think it’s silly, especially since I live with her, but I guess as long as she does not bring one of those things home, I am OK with her obsession.

The last two days, B watched the Westminster Kennel show.  Here are my impressions of what I saw while running in and out of the room (I was trying to get her attention.):

I can take those guys out in one major paw swing.

This was one of B’s favorite.  Tsk, who likes to take baths anyway.

More of the kind that B loves.  I personally think they are too big, eats too much and will have to be taken out out for pooping.  No fun, I say!

Apparently, this little ratty thing is owned by Bill Cosby.  Bill Cosby should switch to felines.

Gizmo flushes

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

I got this funny clip and email from my friend Joyce, who lives in the southern city of Washington DC.  It made my morning and should also explain why I like running water.

Subject: WATER LEAK PROBLEM

Jennifer and Jim kept getting huge water bills. They knew beyond a doubt that
the bills weren’t representative of their actual usage, and no matter how they tried
to conserve, the high bills continued. Although they could see nothing wrong, they
had everything checked for leaks or problems: first the water meter, then outdoor
pipes, indoor pipes, underground pipes, faucets, toilets, washer, ice maker, etc.—
all to no avail.

One day Jim was sick and stayed home in bed, but kept hearing water running
downstairs. He finally tore himself from his sick bed to investigate and stumbled
onto the cause of such high water bills. Apparently this had been happening all day
long when they were not at home. Knowing that few would believe him, he taped a
segment of the “’problem” for posterity.

What a disgrace.

Tufts

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

As you may know, my beloved Kip is a researcher at Tufts.  He is totally underpaid and thus, never gets me any big gifts, but I love him nonetheless.  He does feed me, though, when B is too lazy to get up on the weekend.  But I am digressing… I have that tendency.  I think Kip would say it has something to do with my small brain and the amount of connections that exist.  Brains, music and greenies… I am distracted.

Alright, here is really what I wanted to write about.  Kip was urged to apply for the Ph.D program at Tufts by several of the professor there.  Well, he has a cute ass, but I think they wanted him to apply because of his large brain (Get it?  My brain small, his brain large. HAH!)   Kip did apply and yesterday he was notified that he got in.  Wow, I say, wow!  Of course, I think it would be good for me if he went to Tufts, because my move would be short and without much dizziness (Yes, I get dizzy when being driven.), but Kip says that he cannot just consider my dizziness for his accepting the right program.  So, he is going to Pittsburgh later this week.  Pittsburgh, I ask?  And he said that apparently, there are some handsome feline boys there.  (Eyebrows raised by B.)  YUM!

Italy and new food selection

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

It’s official, the B and the Kip are going on vacation without me.  And they are going to Italy of all places.  I bet you that there are a bunch of hit Italian male felines over there and I am being deprived of meeting and flirting with them.  B says that I am too young still for flirting and I reply saying that I am almost three in human years, which makes me almost legal in kitten years.

I am sad that they are leaving.  It won’t be till May, but I am already dreading being by myself.  B promised that she gets me a slew of humans to come, visit and play with me.  But I am not sure how much I like that idea.  I am very attached to her and her absence will surely make my appetite go down.

This, by the way, brings me to another point.  My dry food was recently switched out to a different brand.  I don’t like it at all.  In fact, I pretty much despise it.  I know B likes to keep me a vegetarian like her, but I actually like the "meaties".  She also stated that my current YUCK food is the same as I had before.  But she surely forgets that my little brain does not work too much with memory.  I, for one, live in the present and I say right now that the current food selection does not satisfy me.  What’s a kitten to do?
