sleepless nights and doctor appointments

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

I had a serious talk with B today.  I told her that she cannot continue to get up at 3am every night, work on her computer for an hour and then roll over and fall asleep.  It totally disrupts my sleep cycle and makes me grumpy and restless all day.  I tend to play more with things I am not supossed to play, like the dried straw on the fireplace or the curtains in the kitchen.  My explanations were met with rolling human eyes, which are  usually pretty when they are not rolled.  She says that she is worried about the NOID.  I have been patient about the whole thing and tried to rationalize with her, saying that she will just have to admit evidence and that everything will be OK.  That she is doing everything in her power to help herself and that she cannot control what the INS eventually will decide.  (She actually has been in touch with one of her old professors, who will
write a statement that sates that her English degree is closely related
to a Language degree.)  The funny thing is that she knows all of this.  But, of course, she acts like a girl and gets all emotional.  Sigh!

Well, we will see how it goes tonight.  I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow evening and need to rest beforehand.  In the end, I am the one who needs to prepare themselves mentally for a rabbis shot tomorrow.  B just has to go to work and bring home the dough.  Giggle!

In better news, here is a pic of B and Kip in costumes.  I think
Kip looks quite smashing.  He was doing this hip thing while they were
slurping martinis in the kitchen and as a little kitten I quite had a
blushing moment.  BOYZZZ!!!  I am still singing "welcome to the jungle…lalalalalal, meow, meow…".

NOID

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I have been suffering the last two nights from B’s inability to sleep.  She is worried again about her immigration stuff.  Apparently, the $1,000 she paid to get the process sped up resultet in a NOID from the INS.  NOID stands for"notice of intend to deny", which basically means that information is missing and the INS will deny the application if they do not receive a written rebuttal within 30 days.  What is most amazing is that the NOID was written based on B’s education.  She is required to have a degree in the English language.  Now, everyone who knows B knows that she has that.  However, the "smarty" person at the INS decided to evaluate her education on his/her own and decided that she does not.  B’s lawyer was annoyed and tried to call the INS.  They would not let her talk to a supervisor and now B has to submit additional information.  Of course, she is worried and annoyed and has not been sleeping well.  She is upset about having spend $1,000 for this.  I have been trying to calm her, but there is only so much a young kitten like me can do.  SIGH!  More updates will follow.

Snap pitch

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Sadie_baseballThe Tigers lost last night and while I am upset, I am trying to remain positive.  I think a nw pitching coach would benefit them and here I am volunteering.  No payment or incentives needed.  By the way, I have a great snap pitch, but am not that great with curve balls.

Food poisoning

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Sorry for not posting in a couple days, but B went on a last minute notice for a work related event to Baltimore and I did not have access to a ‘puter.  She went for two nights, three days and guess what… Yes, right, she got food poisoning.  I told the girl to watch what she is eating, as I have seen her be sick several times in the past, but no one listens to a 6 lbs kitten.  Tsk!  Apparently, she went on a customer dinner and was sick all night long.  In fact, she almost did not make it home, because she thought she would not survive the airplane ride.  But she says that she had such an urge to come home to me that she gathered all her strength to get on that plane.  Personally, I think she was missing Kip too much.  But, I will try to believe her and her underhanded compliments.

She was as white as the fur on my kitten belly when she got home Friday night.  I immediately jumped into action and used my "Let me warm your belly" strategy to get the pain out of her midriff.  It seemed to work and Saturday morning she was feeling better again.  We spent most of that day laying on the couch, watching TV and cooking for Kip.  I love it!  There are some advantages to humans being sick.  They crave a little more kitten attention.

diet

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

I was just informed that I am being put on a diet.  Apparently, B opted for what is called "premium processing" for her I-140.  That means that she will pay an extra filing fee of 1,000 USD to the INS to get an answer from them within 2 weeks.  I was told that this fee is coming out of my food allowance.  Grhhhhh!

2:30am

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

What excitement it was when B and Kip showed up at 2:30am this morning.  Yes, that is AM - not PM.  Kip looked a little funny and acted kinda weird.  You know, he could not walk straight.  First inclination was that the boy is drunk, but the way B talked to him, this was not the case.  After much running around and me trying to get the 411 on what was up, the two finally settled in bed.

When I jumped on Kip’s chest like I usually do when he tries to fall asleep, I was quickly scopped up by B.  She told me to be very quiet and not jump on him.  Then she whispered in my ear that they had just come for the ER, where Kip received help for pressure and pain behind his left eye.  Oh my, I thought, no wonder that he looks so strange.

B said that he had participated in a friend’s MRI study and had felt sick afterward.  What a friend that is!  B rushed him to the ER after he could not stand the pain anymore.  There, he was on an IV and received two kinds of pain killers - one of them a narcotic.  It must have been a scary experience for them both, because B was still flushed when she was talking to me.  Kip, fortunately, was already in dream land.

Apparently, the narcotic was really strong and Kip felt very nauseated afterward.  To make sure that everything was OK with him, he received  CT at the hospital.  No aneurysm and no swollen brain area.  Oh my, was I relieved when I heard that from B.  I promised her that I would leave him alone at night, but - and don’t you tell her that - I secretly kept on checking up on him during the night.

This morning he felt much better and we cuddled on the couch for a bit.  Such a scare and it only makes me think how much I really care for this special male human.  He is my absolute favorite male - sorry Papa Schellenberg.  To thank B, he got her a huge bouquet of flowers and I am glad to see that none of his gentlemanly brain cell was killed during this scare.  Here is too a long and prosperous brain activity, Kip!
