Put your paws in the air like you just don’t care

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Oh yes, I am down with my hip hop songs. And whoever thinks we are just dumb animals -> http://www.boston.com/news/odd/articles/2006/03/29/cat_stuck_in_wall_waves_paw_for_help/

I also like to wave with my paw when I see B coming home. I like to greet her in the window facing the porch and hold up my right paw when I see her. I get so lonely during the day that I get very excited when she gets home. Sometimes, when she comes home after the dark, I see the headlights of her car pulling in and I ran really fast to the front window, making sure it is her. Then when she opens the door, I jump right out and begin to purr. If she does not start petting me right away, I try to run in front of her feet so that she notice me. This is sorta dangerous, because I could get kicked in the process or have her fall on top of me. The best way to get to her is to lay down right in front of her, roll on my back and look cutsy at her while waving my paws (yes, all fours) in the air (and yes, I do care about it). I figure if I show her how much I like her to be home, she will stay with me more often during the day. But, unfortuantely, that would also mean that no one makes money for us. Ah, this lonely kitten will have to suck it up being alone at home.

45 lbs

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

Outrageous… just outrageous. This cat weighs 45 lbs. (Scroll down to the link to a slideshow on this page -> http://www.wsbtv.com/index.html). Is obesity now taken hold of the animal world? Where does it stop? 45 lbs is a small child. I think B weighs about three times that. I only weigh 12 % of it. I wonder who is to blame. One might argue that his human provided him with too much food. But I personally subscribe to the belief that one needs not eat everything that one is given. That is why my bowl is always half full.

Attacking cats

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

I am outraged and saddened by this story -> http://www.connpost.com/news/ci_3646541. A cat attacks humans, the humans are scared, some of them get hurt and the cat has a restraining order slapped on his paws, which means house arrest. The owner assumes that he is trying to defend himself because he was previously egged and hosed down. I am outraged that humans would do such mean things to a cat and saddened that the cat retaliates in such a bad way. I feel sad that the cat did not know what else to do and outraged that the owner never did anything to defend the cat in the first place. Now, who suffers? The cat. He must feel so bad locked away in a house when previously he was allowed to roam the streets. Is there such a thing as arbitration for cats?

Evidence

Mimeattachment B’s amusement at work on Fridays. Can you believe that dog actually dares to drool on her pants when she pets him? Unbelievable. I wish she would take me to work. I would be so sweet to her HR person that she probably get a raise. And more money can only mean more kitten toys. Tata!

Puppy smuggling

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

B likes dogs, as I mentioned before. But she promised me that whenever she would get one, it would be from a breeder. Someone who assures that the dogs are well fed and taken care of, that they are healthy and only able humans will buy them. Puppy hell holes are very common in the US and humans who are looking to buy a pet from a pet store should be aware that most puppies sold in these stores come from sick parents and have often health issues. Healthy dogs come from breeders and will cost much more. A price that people should pay to support a healthy animal community.

Apparently, puppy smuggling is now very popular at our southern borders and this story will be featured on CNN tonight. Here is a link that talks a little about it -> http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/blog/2006/03/black-market-puppies-crossing-southern.html Please ya’ll, make sure that you buy only puppies from breeders. Do not support puppy hell holes and puppy smuggling. If you cannot afford a puppy from a breeder, consider adopting a dog from the animal shelter.

Dogs and high beams

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006

B has been obsessed with puppies lately. I found a slew of puppy videos on her computer. Maybe we are getting one? I doubt it though, because our very nice landlady does not allow dogs, only kittens. Toby is her kitten boy.

It sure would be nice to have a play-buddy during the day, but if the dog is too big, I may be scared of it. I like to be in control of things in this house and a large dog would certainly stand in the way of me making all the rules. Maybe I should learn to wuffff like a dog. Wuf, Wuf!

Lately, I have been asserting my dominance by always jumping onto higher grounds when B is around. There are many high ledges around the apartment and I like to jump on them and look down at her. It makes me feel good. Sometimes she tells me to come down, but who would listen when they are way up high. Too high for her to easily climb up and get me.

The whole thing has one disadvantage, though. I am almost always on the brink of falling when I jump down. The other day, I stumpled forward and lost my balance. I hit my head in the process, but quickly jumped back onto my kitten feet, so B would not see what actually happened and yell at me for being a rebel. And I like being a rebel.

Adoption

Monday, March 20th, 2006

I am a big supporter of the “one human, one kitten lifestyle”. This basically means that there should be a lovely kitten in every household. Some of this comes from my own experience in a shelter and some of it comes from my belief that every human’s life cannot be lived to its fullest unless it is shared with a kitten - a shelter kitten that is.

Here are some stats:
Millions of dogs, cats and other animals domesticated as pets in the United States are homeless. The Humane Society of the United States estimates the number of animal shelters to be between 4,000 and 6,000. The society estimates that each year:

• 6-8 million cats and dogs enter shelters
• 3-4 million are euthanized by shelters
• 3-4 million are adopted from shelters
• 600,000-750,000 are reclaimed by their owners

Source: Humane Society of the United States. All numbers estimates.

So, if you have not done so, please consider adopting one of us. We are cute, furry, easy to take care of and we will love you forever.

kitten fights

Monday, March 20th, 2006

Happy, happy Monday everyone. I am in an excellent mood this morning. This is partly because today is the first day of Spring (even though it does not feel like it) and because B’s Bday has finally passed. It has been an exhausting couple months to be reminded of it by her almost every single day. Now, that she is 33 and an almost old lady, she better be quiet about her Bday next year.

My weekend was lovely. I got to spent lots of time with B and Kip and I am slowly working up the confidence to fight that ugly and nasty kitten that lives next door. The thing rubs itself all over the window sill, marking its territory. In the past, I watched quietly, not making a sound. Now, I just get angry. I jump against the window and show my teeth. I make loud noises and scare the beast away. Ok, not always, but I am working on it. You wonder how I got the skills and the confidence to do it? Well, here is the video I have been watching to learn -> http://www.dailysixer.com/ufccats.shtml

Peace out, Sadie - the protector of Potter Park.

Back

Friday, March 17th, 2006

She is back. B came back to me. She did not leave me. Oh, I am so stocked. (Alternatively, you can use “psyched” here. I am working on my slang words.) She came back late afternoon yesterday, unpacked her things and took a nap with me. How sweet it is to cuddle with the B! I also got gifts: little heart shaped kitten treats. Oh, I was blushing when she gave them to me.

Tomorrow is her Bday and I am looking forward to giving her little kitten kisses in the morning when she wakes up.

P.S. Did you know that they have a show in Germany that is called “Deutschland such den Superstar”? It is the same as American Idol, excep when you translate it literally it means “Germany is looking for the super star.” How funny!

Kara’s pics

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

Wow… I am blushing.  Have you seen my friend Kara’s latest pics.  There are some tight shirts and very perky boobies.  Ohhhhh… I wonder if she would wear one of my pics on each side.  :)
